Playstation 3

Every time anyone asks a question about a PS3 everyone starts banging on about how rubbish it is, and how good the Wii is. Why? Personally i think it's jealousy.

The Wii is just a fad. It will die out in like a year. The xbox 360 will die out in about 1-3 years given the tech advances. The ps3 will last you a good 6+ years because of its tech advances. Sure the price tag is 599 for a blu-ray hd player, 60gb (easily upgradable) hdd w/ wireless Internet, open platform and expanded memory slots (via usb/sd/cf/etc.) But look at how much you would spend just to get that all on the xbox 360 (more than $600 for sure). I would know because I have both. Also for both of the systems to operate at full performance you would need a HDTV 1080p but will work with SDTVs and other low res HDTVs. My suggestion to all, cut back on spending for the 360 and save for that PS3 (purchase next year) because you wont be disappointed.

It’s a 100% PS3 based emulation of Microsoft Windows Vista. Its super slow, but it works.

Installed On Xubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04

How To:
-Install Qemu 0.9.1

-Use vlite to shrink a Vista Image, and apply the 256mb memory patch

-Install Vista on your Computer using the vlite image with Qemu and Bochs Bios Rev 1.171 by sshwarts (It took my computer 12 hours.)

-Copy the .IMG Made from Bochs/Qemu to your PS3’s HDD

-Open Terminal where the Vista IMG is located

-type qemu -hda vista.img -m 256 -L “Location to Rev 1.171 directory, Drag n Drop” -cpu pentium3

It will take about 25 min to fully boot (network connection and audio show up)

Oh, MGS4 cant compare to GoW2 in November. Oh, Ps3 rock or 360 is the shyt. Nobody gives a flying f*ck and you sound like a dumba** when you keep talking about it. Just shut up. Its so annoying, have you nothing better to do besides b*tch about gaming systems online?

i totaly agree with you! i meen everybody argues about which is beter and when they do it pisses me off. why cant they just stfu and do there own thing and play what they wana play. every time i talk about a game theres some whiney little b**ch that has to start about how this game is so much beter than that game and that system is way beter than that system and i just say i dont give a f**k. why cant poeple just shut up about this stupid issue and go play what they like and stop trying to snoop in other poeples lives and go get a life of there own

I bought an HDMI cable, and an HDMI-to-DVI cable, so theoretically I should be able to play my ps3 on my computer monitor… I hope. My computer connects to my monitor using a VGA cable, so the DVI slot is empty, so could I have both my computer and the PS3 plugged into the monitor at the same time can only one be plugged in at a time. Basically any information about running a ps3 on a computer monitor would be appreciated.

You can plug in the DVI signal and the VGA at the same time.

There is usually a hot key on the monitor that will let you switch between the two signals. If only one is active then typically the monitor will pick up that signal and switch automatically. Some do not.

The caveat that you may run into is that HDMI includes HDCP encryption. If your monitor supports HDCP then it is no problem. If it does not you may find that games run O.K. but a Blu-Ray movie may play at DVD resolution, or not at all.

Also the PS3 uses a HDCP 1.3 connector - make sure you have the right connector on your HDCP to DVI cable.

PS3 Home? What is it? Can you get it even if u have a ps3 before it comes out? Do I have to have it to play my PS3? And what are the "Apartments" that people are talking about on Home? Im not sure, Please Help!
So I dont have to have it to play online. It's just something to show people and have "fun". Probably wont get it. Or do I need it to play?

now im going to give you a question that I TYPED and not giving you a cut and paste answer or something they heard of TV. So Playstation home is like a Sims type of game for the ps3. you can talk to others walk around and create your own aparment. In your apartment you can design it with furniture paint your walls and even invite friends over! Most likely SONY will want to collect money in this process so there might me some downloadable furniture or extra apartment space or something.

People might be saying oh the PS3 SUCKS BECAUSE IT DOESNT HAVE ACHIEVEMENTS LIKE THE 360! well ps3 is releasing what they call trophys. You will have a trophy center where all your friends can view your great accomplishments you have made in games. One really cool thing that I really liked about HOME is that you can stream live media (music and video) Imagine you inviting your friend who really lives in say.. CHINA to your virtual aparment. You can pop in one of your real dvds and you can watch it together.

You can communicate with others in home by texting and a headset. Home has been delayed alot of times it was supposed to come last fall which it didnt and then in january but now they are set for spring (which started today) although the end of spring isnt untill mid june. Most likely home will be in with a firmware update for the ps3.

I just got a PS3 recently, and to my disappointment, there isn't a very big selection of games… and there seems to be no anime games at all. Are there any coming soon that anyone knows about? And will PS3 play imported games?

most anime games suck
and PS3 usually has more hard-core games
so why would it have anime games
except for Kingdom Hearts- but I hate that game

I am thinking about purchasing and ps3, but I have heard mixed reviews about it from friends. I have heard that the graphics on the ps2 are better and that it is not worth buying. So, I am just wondering if it is worth it to spend all that money. Also, I need to know if it can play my ps2 games, I don't want to waste all of those games. Thank you much!

whoever told you the graphics were beter on PS2 is either a nostalgist or is just lying to you.

the PS3 is amazing and on the 12th of june there will be a rather delicious offer on the 80 gig PS3. the 80 gig is being re-released with metal gear solid 4, the new dual shock controller and a fre download of the PSN game PAIN. the 80 gig can play your PS2 games out of the box. if you get the 40 gig currently available, you'll have to hope and wait for sony to make PS2 games available for download.

the PS3 is THE console of the forseable future. if your friends have 360's they're probably jealous that the PS3 isnt just starting to compete, but push ahead of the 360. and its no surprise that MS is looking to kick out a new system in the next 2 years. the 360 wont be able to compete with the PS3 by the end of this year.

all that considered though, there will be games you can only get on either system, so it really boils down to what games you like. if you're a god of war or final fantasy fan(or a fan of those kinds of games) then the PS3 is your console, if you like halo and mass effect then the 360 is your console.

i have the PS3 i bought it almost a year ago(a refurb 60 gig) and i've ben loving it ever since.
